About us
Welcome to the Coalition for Health Environments Research (CHER), a leading nonprofit organization focused on advancing healthy and sustainable living environments through research, policy, and education. Our mission is to create awareness and understanding about the impact of the built and natural environment on the health and well-being of people.
Founded in 2015, CHER arose from the passion and dedication of a group of scientists, architects, urban planners, health experts, and environmental activists who believe in the importance of healthy and sustainable environments for all. Our headquarters are located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, but our projects and partnerships are global.
Our Focus
At CHER, we focus on four key pillars:
-
Research: We support and conduct groundbreaking research to understand and quantify the relationship between the built and natural environment and people’s health. Our research is interdisciplinary and utilizes the latest scientific methods and technologies.
-
Policy: We collaborate with policymakers, government agencies, and other stakeholders to develop evidence-based and practical policy recommendations that lead to healthier living environments.
-
Education: We develop and disseminate educational materials and organize workshops, lectures, and conferences to increase awareness and knowledge about healthy and sustainable living environments among professionals, policymakers, and the general public.
-
Collaboration: We believe in the power of collaboration and work closely with universities, research institutions, businesses, nonprofit organizations, and communities around the world to achieve our mission.
